A concert of Andalusian music with young singers and paytanim from Morocco and Israel, in Hall 1 at the Be’er Sheva Performing Arts Center.
New Nouba
The Next Generation of Andalusian Music
Five leading singers from Morocco’s younger generation, led by the artist Anas Belhachmi, and five young, promising paytanim from the Center for Andalusian Culture in Israel come together on one stage for a performance dedicated to the new voices of Andalusian music.
Singing in Hebrew and Arabic, and engaging in a live musical dialogue between Jewish and Muslim traditions, ancient roots meet a young, renewing spirit. Alongside works from the Andalusian tradition and contemporary arrangements, the shared cultural richness woven over generations among communities, languages, and cultures around the Mediterranean is revealed.
This is a meeting between a new generation of singers and paytanim, giving a new voice to a magnificent Andalusian tradition and jointly sketching the face of the new nouba.
