“Hoshana” – the solo exhibition of Esther Schneider presents a new body of works consisting of paintings and sculptures at human scale. Her works are based on the transformation of components within culture — from sacred to secular, from everyday spaces to the museum, from masculine to feminine, and from encounters in the round space of the Bat Yam Museum that seemingly connect two worlds that are opposites: the Tent of Meeting – the dwelling of testimony, and the domestic space.
These merge in the exhibition through painterly and sculptural works that spread like a mandala or a constellation of stars around a center. In "Hoshana," furniture, objects, and elements undergo personification, appearing as body parts, and are reconfigured into a sculptural-painterly space, rich in color and sensuality, inviting the viewer to immerse themselves in it.
The Bat Yam Museums is a network of three museums operating in the city of Bat Yam. The Ben Ari Museum, dedicated to contemporary art, features a unique round structure built in 1961, and since 2007 has been offering exhibitions of contemporary art, community programs, and academic conferences accompanied by catalogs and various publications. The additional museums, Beit Rivka and Beit Shalom Ash, host the museum's growing collection and develop extensive community and educational activity programs.
