A creative family workshop about light will take place on July 31 at 10:30 at the Bat Yam Museum of Art. Participants will visit the exhibition and experiment with light.
“Lighting the Red Planet” — a family program accompanying artist Omer Shizaf’s new solo exhibition, “Red Planet.” The exhibition halls of the Bat Yam Museum of Art house a unique microcosm, woven from light, shadow, and sound, that stirs the mind and imagination.
During the program, we will visit the exhibition together, take a closer look at light, and learn how it becomes a material for artistic creation. In “Red Planet,” we will discover the wondrous world of light and darkness, examine light up close, explore the colors and forms it creates, listen to the feelings and memories it awakens, and even try to “catch” light and preserve it.
After visiting the exhibition, we will head to a play space where we can experiment with light and various materials. At the light table, we will sculpt and create compositions from transparent, matte, and reflective materials, observing how light passes through them. In the “shadow library,” we will immerse ourselves in a world of magic and illusions that arise on the boundary between light and shadow. On the circular illuminated stage, we will imagine the planet Mars and create a new world born at the intersection of light, matter, and imagination.
