Seamline: An Anthropology of Fashion
This exhibition examines the daily question, "What to wear?", exploring decisions regarding visibility, belonging, and non-verbal communication. Ashdod, as a city of diverse voices, is a distinct space for these contexts. Its numerous communities carry distinct dress codes that intersect and meet in public spaces. 'Seamline' integrates into a broad dialogue led by the Museum of Philistine Culture with material culture.
For this deciphering endeavor, fashion researchers, visual curators, designers, costumers, costume designers, street photographers, and multidisciplinary artists were invited to illuminate various aspects of clothing culture: dressing practices, thoughts on clothing, and the anthropology of clothing.
