It was supposed to be a pleasant, enjoyable Parisian evening at home, with family and friends.
Elizabeth has prepared a special meal for everyone’s enjoyment: Pierre, her husband, a literature professor; Vincent, her brother, who has finally found the woman of his dreams, Anna, and is soon to become a father; and their best friend, Claude, a trombone player.
Hovering over all of them is the loving shadow of the family’s mother, who lives far away in the countryside and envelops them in love and generosity.
Except that the evening develops in an entirely different direction, and none of those present will ever forget it.
It begins with a game organized by Vincent, the future father, in which everyone is asked to guess the first name he has chosen for the baby yet to be born.

The play is currently enjoying tremendous success in Paris and has also been made into a film. Its two authors are among the leading satirists, regularly writing for French television.
