A meeting between a renowned composer and the queen of Hebrew song
Tel Aviv in the 1930s and 1940s is a vibrant city and a center of entertainment. Its cafés are meeting places for British soldiers, immigrants, and bohemians, and performances by leading artists take place there.
The Li-La-Lo Theater is one of the well-known entertainment venues. It is there that the musician Moshe Vilensky, a new immigrant from Poland, first meets Shoshana Damari, a new immigrant from Yemen. This meeting marked the beginning of a long-standing collaboration between the composer and the singer, which produced dozens of songs that form cornerstones of Hebrew song.
