An accessible tour in simple language at Nahal Iyon Nature Reserve, to the Tanur Waterfall. On Saturdays, November 14 and December 12, at 11:00, 12:30, and 14:00.
The Nahal Iyun Nature Reserve presents a spectacularly dramatic “backdrop”: the stream flows through a beautiful canyon from the Iyon Valley in the Galilee Panhandle to the Hula Valley. The stream includes four impressive waterfalls: Iyon Waterfall, Ashad Waterfall, Mill Waterfall, and Tannur Waterfall, considered the stream’s “star.”
Our tour will focus on the accessible section of the stream, where we will visit Tannur Waterfall. Tannur Waterfall is one of the most impressive and famous waterfalls in Israel. It reaches approximately 30 meters in height.
The waterfall received its name (in Arabic: “Wadi al-Tannur”) because of the unique shape of the cliff from which it pours, resembling a traditional Arab mud oven (tabun).
The waterfall’s flow peaks in winter and spring, when rainwater and snowmelt from the Lebanese mountains rush powerfully into the pool at its base, creating a spectacular sight and sending cool droplets into the air.
