Beyond the Fence: Mount Beterim Covenant – A Journey into Biblical Heritage and Vast Landscapes

Join us for a powerful journey up the Hermon Range, to one of the most impressive and unique sites in Israel: Mount Brit Bein HaBetarim, a place few have visited.

The route combines wild mountain landscapes, clear alpine air, and a fascinating encounter between ancient heritage and exceptional mountain nature.

According to Jewish tradition, the site of Brit Bein HaBetarim is located on Mount Dov. It was there that the historic covenant between Abraham and God took place, in which God promised him that he would inherit the land.

We will begin this special day trip, at a location beyond the security fence, by meeting near Ar'ar Village. The exact location will be sent in the WhatsApp group for those registered for the trip.

From there, we will board a bus together, cross the border fence, and climb Ma'ale Gideon toward “the Place of the Covenants,” where, according to Jewish tradition, Brit Bein HaBetarim took place.

During the hike, we will explore the story of the biblical covenant and its historical and ethical significance, learn about the unique geography of Israel’s northern borders, and become acquainted with the mountain climate that influences the animal and plant life.

We will also investigate the impressive karst phenomenon and the geological processes that have shaped the rocks and landscape over the years.

Along the way, we will encounter limestone and dolomite rock formations, unique mountain vegetation, sparse woodland, and remnants of ancient human activity. In the appropriate seasons, we will also enjoy a spectacular display of mountain flowers.

The highlight of the trip is the breathtaking panoramic view from Mount Brit Bein HaBetarim toward the Hula Valley, the Galilee Mountains, the Golan Heights, and the high peaks of the Hermon.

Come walk up the mountain, breathe the alpine air, and experience a powerful encounter between history and nature in the north!

The trip is subject to approval by the security authorities. In the event of increased tensions in the area, an alternative route on the Hermon will be conducted.
