“The Buggies on a Journey to Oz” is a musical play that combines insect characters with the classic plot of The Wizard of Oz.
The story focuses on the insect band “The Buggies” and their singer, Perla, who are swept into a magical world following a storm caused by Nissim, the grocer. During the journey, the band members take on the roles of the iconic Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Lion, in search of the Wizard, who will grant them a brain, a heart, and courage.
Meanwhile, Debbie the bee and her agent, Baz, try to sabotage their journey so that Debbie can take Perla’s place as the lead singer.
In the end, the heroes discover that the qualities they were seeking already exist within them, and they manage to return home while demonstrating friendship and forgiveness toward their rivals.
The play emphasizes messages of self-belief, cooperation, and the understanding that there is no place like home.
