A guided day tour of Ramla on 13 October 2026, starting at Herzliya Train Station. Visit MDA’s blood centre, market, Pool of Arches and Karaite Synagogue.
Join ESRA Here & There for a fascinating day exploring the many sides of Ramla, from an exclusive look inside Israel’s lifesaving blood services to its colourful market, ancient underground reservoir and unique religious heritage.
We begin with a particularly special visit to the new Magen David Adom National Blood Services Centre. Access to this advanced facility is not normally available to the public, and ESRA has received special permission to bring our group inside.
During this specially arranged guided visit, we will gain a rare behind-the-scenes look at the essential work carried out at the centre, including the collection, testing, processing and safeguarding of Israel’s national blood supply, as well as the specialist blood services based there. This is a unique opportunity to enter one of Israel’s most important medical facilities and discover how MDA helps save lives across the country.
From there, we head to the lively Ramla Market, with time to wander through its colourful stalls and enjoy lunch. Discover the flavours of Ramla, with a variety of kosher food options available.
Next, we visit the remarkable Pool of Arches, an underground reservoir dating back more than 1,200 years. We’ll take to the water in rowboats and experience this extraordinary historic site from below.
Our final stop is the Karaite Synagogue, where we’ll discover the traditions of Karaite Judaism, which follows the Hebrew Bible directly rather than the Oral Law of Rabbinic Judaism.
The day will be guided by Simon Oster.
