We’re off to the monastery—on the Jordan!

Join Olga for a journey toward the Jordan River, through the Judean Desert, monasteries, ruins, and state borders in the direction of the Dead Sea, on the penultimate day of the holidays and Sukkot, from 10:30 to 14:30.

A driving tour in your own cars, ideal for those who cannot or do not want to walk a lot or for long periods.

You will need to walk literally 1–2 kilometers, while all the drives between stops take 5–10 minutes, so the route is also suitable for seniors. I will tell you about the Bedouins, the desert, the status of the territories, and much more.

We will visit—and not only:

1. The zero-elevation point and Rosa the camel.

2. Qasr al-Yahud—the state border between Israel and Jordan, the traditional place where the Jews entered the Promised Land, and one of the likely sites of the “baptism” of Jesus of Nazareth. You will be able to touch the state border!

3. The Monastery of St. Gerasimos—an oasis in the desert with peacocks and ostriches, and the site of the most romantic story in the Middle East: the friendship between a lion and an elder. We will have lunch there and eat our fill of dates.

4. There will be more surprises along the route, but I will not reveal everything!

I will be happy to recommend a place for an incredibly delicious lunch at an Italian pizzeria right in the heart of the desert after our tour.

Transportation is in your own cars. I will try to help arrange rides.

Cost: 150 shekels for adults; 80 shekels for children over 12. I will not take younger children, as they will not find every part of the tour interesting.
