In the Middle Ages, creating a book was a labor-intensive and expensive process. Books were respected and valued—even feared.
In Alexandra Kinevskaya’s Zoom lecture on September 24 at 7:30 p.m. Israel time, we will learn how manuscripts were produced—and by whom and why. We will also explore the role books played during different periods of the Middle Ages: from animal skin to illustrative value, and from monks to kings.
Alexandra Kinevskaya is an art and photography historian and media theorist (Russian State University for the Humanities, Utrecht University).
