About the Activity
Join us for a particularly fascinating and enriching nature and history hike in the heart of the magnificent Britannia Park in the Judean Lowlands.
The hike is intended for attentive hikers aged 15 and over and combines green landscapes with a step-by-step journey through the region’s history and fascinating stories.
We will begin the hike near the Big Oak parking area and hear its unique story.
From there, we will continue along the relatively shaded section of the Cisterns and Wells Trail, known for its spectacular beauty and numerous archaeological finds.
We will walk alongside a restored terrace in the heart of a planted forest combining native woodland trees, and encounter impressive remains of ancient settlements along the route, including Horvat Shiklon and Horvat Arsum.
We will admire ancient agricultural installations such as an olive press, rock-hewn winepresses, and ancient water cisterns.
Along the way, we will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views extending toward the Judean Mountains and the coastal plain.
We will conclude the hike with a fascinating visit to Tel Azekah, where we will learn about the tell’s long history, take in the view, and travel back in time to the famous story of the battle between David and Goliath.
Come enjoy a day of pleasant walking, blooming nature, scenic viewpoints, and an in-depth exploration of the stories of the past in the Adulam region and the Judean Lowlands!
