The last overnight stay of the summer season in Jerusalem’s monasteries. Once again, I managed to arrange access to the Old City’s most picturesque site—the Ecce Homo Monastery (“Behold the Man”). The monastery is located along the Via Dolorosa. Its underground levels contain enormous cisterns from the Antonia Fortress, a Roman triumphal gate, and ancient paving. The roof of Ecce Homo is considered one of the most beautiful and difficult-to-access viewpoints in the Old City.
The nuns of the Congregation of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Sion are ready to let us stay at the monastery from Thursday to Friday. I negotiated a price of $60 per person (180 shekels).

On Thursday, our walk through Jerusalem will take us across the rooftops of the Old City. We will visit Jewish homes that are usually closed on weekends.
On Friday at 7:00 a.m., we will be allowed into the Wall tunnels. We will then continue along the rooftops and return to the hostel around 10:00–11:00 a.m.
THURSDAY WALKING PLAN
We meet on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. near the Jaffa Gate. At the beginning of the walk, we will visit Ecce Homo Monastery and leave any unnecessary belongings there. You may arrive at the monastery later and skip the evening walk.
We will then continue across the rooftops of the Old City’s Jewish homes. The walk will be circular. We will return to the hostel around 9:00 p.m.
FRIDAY WALKING PLAN
On Friday at 7:00 a.m., we will set out toward the Wall tunnels. We will then continue along the rooftops.
The walk will end around 11:00 a.m.–12:00 noon.
Bring change for admission to paid attractions (approximately 30 shekels), water, a snack, and comfortable shoes.
Everything needed for the overnight stay is available at the hostel.
If you need help getting to the starting point of the route, please write in the trip chat. I will try to help as the date of the hike approaches.
The guide’s services are “conditionally free.” As is customary at apartment concerts, at the end of the hike everyone may put as much as they consider appropriate into the hat. The organizational costs of the hike and route research amount to 600–1,000 shekels and take an enormous amount of time. Your donations make it possible to continue the project and prepare new routes. People from all backgrounds join the hikes—from Masa participants and new immigrants to seasoned programmers. For this reason, we try not to specify an amount. The main thing is that all participants feel comfortable.
