Saint Petersburg – The Jewel in the Crown
Saint Petersburg is not merely a city; it is also an idea carved in stone. One of the world’s largest northern cities, it lies on the shores of the Gulf of Finland. It is Russia’s second-largest city, one of the most beautiful cities in the world, and home to countless remarkable sites and landscapes.
It is the cultural capital of Russia—and was so even before it, under the Soviet Union. As a travel photographer, I will take you through my experiences of the city: its palaces, churches, canals, bridges, markets, urban scenery, cafés, and people.
We will walk through the city’s alleyways during the White Nights, when the city never goes to sleep and remains vibrant day and night. We will cruise along the canals that cross the city, visit gardens, museums, and cafés, and explore the Western culture that conquered the city.
