"Bad Afisha"October 2026
Facebook has blessed me!
And cursed me at the same time.
So, because I quoted my haters in the comments, Zuckerberg’s brave moderators slapped restrictions on my page. It no longer shows up in recommendations.
On the one hand, it’s a shame that my posts aren’t reaching a wider audience. Especially when it’s an event guide.
On the other hand, the page has become wonderfully peaceful and quiet.
So if you want to see the announcements, like-share-repost—or you won’t be seeing them.
Below is my list of events I suggest checking out over the next two weeks:
Haven’t had enough cinema yet? Even after the Haifa Film Festival? If not, then TODAY, October 2, in HAIFA, Kinorai is screening The Wizard of the Kremlin (yes, the one where Jude Law plays the president of some country or other), followed by a discussion with film critic Alina Rebel. And by the way! Starting October 1, Kinorai is showing Alejandro González Iñárritu’s THE DISCiple with Tom Cruise in Russian at HOT CINEMA, MOVIELAND and PLANET. Their schedule is on the website.

And on October 9, The Wizard of the Kremlin finally makes it to TEL AVIV: that’s the film where Jude Law plays the president of some country or other—and after the screening, there’ll be a discussion with film critic Alina Rebel.

From October 3 to 10, the Cameri Theatre in TEL AVIV is staging the musical Cabaret, starring our very own Israeli Jude Law — Ran Danker. I saw it; I can’t say I was blown away, but the audience seemed happy. It’s got everything on the checklist: songs, dancing, glitter, and the tragedy of the Weimar Republic. But Ran? One love! There aren’t many performances this time around.

On October 4 in HAIFA, the Tikotin Museum is hosting a lecture in Russian: “Yayoi Kusama: Patterns, Control and Infinity.” Kusama was truly magnificent, and she recently passed away — I’m sure it’ll be fascinating to hear about her both for those who know her work and for those who have barely heard of her.

Beloved Babel. Haifa continues its series of “Haifa Lovers’ Club” sessions on October 6. This meeting is about how street artists are processing the tragedy of October 7 and its aftermath in Haifa’s urban spaces. Art historian Tatyana Pakhalyuk will be speaking.

Let’s add some sport to this Bad Afisha! On October 9 in TEL AVIV: a beach volleyball tournament. Participation is free, with a symbolic 30-shekel contribution, which the organizers use to buy gifts for everyone. Come play with your team, cheer on your friends, and have a great time.

On October 10 at Tmuna Theatre: HANNAH “Song of Songs.” The show has been nominated in two categories for the 2026 Golden Hedgehog Award and is taking part in the YULA international festival in Munich. The protagonist is writer Hannah Szenes, and we follow her journey through her diaries and poems, starting from childhood. Friendship, love, the dream of coming to Israel… but no spoilers. The soundtrack is absolutely gorgeous. In Hebrew with Russian subtitles.

On October 10, JERUSALEM is hosting a tour I’ve been dreaming of going on for ages, but somehow it never quite works out. I’m talking about Igor Torik’s “Bulgakov’s Jerusalem.”

While everyone’s busy buying tickets to Grebenshchikov’s November concerts, I suggest warming up on October 13 in TEL AVIV with musician Vanya Zhuk performing early BG at Babel. His program, “I Bought Myself an ARP and Drum Machine,” features the entire Blue Album plus part of Triangle. Guitar, keyboards, a loop station — he always plays like a god. Come along!

And now for the crown jewel of my collection: the “Fonar” charity book garage sale on October 16! If you know you know 🙂 We’ll be waiting for everyone at 6 Salameh Street in Jaffa on Friday the 16th, from 9:30 to 17:30. And bring us your little bookies! Time is running short, so I suggest giving your shelves a sort-through over the weekend)) All the details are with “Chance for Life” / Chance4life.
