The play tells the story of Behiya, a woman working in a brothel in Tiberias who provides information to Gabriel. The plot includes betrayals, espionage, a massacre in a Jewish neighborhood, and rifts between the main characters. The women of Tiberias are shocked by Behiya’s transgressions, while Gabriel accuses her of providing false information.
Bahia recruits two more women and attracts a loyal clientele. She serves them drinks, flirts, and chats, while also eavesdropping secretly on what happens in the bedrooms. The information she gathers is passed on to Gabriel. The women of Tiberias are shocked by this breach of privacy and denounce Bahia as a traitor. Hanan, one of the workers in the brothel, speaks with a client. He is aware that Bahia is listening to them and reveals details about a terrorist cell poised to attack a Jewish neighborhood in southern Tiberias. A week later, the women of Tiberias mourn the massacre that occurred in a Jewish neighborhood in northern Tiberias, contradicting the intelligence Bahiah had received. The women in the brothel sing their own dirge over murders committed by Jews in an Arab village as an act of retaliation. Gabriel breaks into Bahia’s room. He accuses her of intentionally providing him with false information regarding the nature of the anticipated attack. Senior members of the Haganah blame him for the massacre, dismiss him from his post, and expel him from Tiberias. Gabriel promises Bahia that he will return soon to pick her up. She demands that he swear to her by his real name – Michal.
