A dance-poetry work that brings the exiled Iranian poet Fatemeh Ekhtesari and Israeli choreographer Inbal Oshman together onstage, alongside an ensemble of outstanding dancers.
Two powerful artists from cultures that are both distant and close, seemingly positioned on opposite sides of the divide, meet and challenge conventions, expectations, and prejudices. The two artists bring to the stage a unique selection from their works, merging them into a single, complete creation.
Ekhtesari’s poetry takes listeners on unforgettable visual-emotional journeys. Oshman’s choreography combines virtuosity with profound emotionality. Together, they create a space of movement and language that expand and unset one another.
“War Beneath the Shirt” offers audiences a one-of-a-kind experience exploring the female body in states of pressure, resistance, vulnerability, strength, freedom, and hope.
