Comic Workshop: Ilana Zeffren x City Museum

A workshop for girls and boys with artist and comics creator Ilana Zarfan: We will draw and write short comics (strips), do illustration exercises, and learn how to think creatively and how to tell a story through comics. For grades 5–7.

An introductory workshop on the world of comics and its language, led by Ilana Zarfan, comics creator and illustrator (creator of “The Cat Petting Corner” in Haaretz’s “Supplement”).

Topics we will cover include character and background design, types of text in comics, the relationship between illustration and text, page composition, points of view, color schemes, and more. In honor of the summer vacation and inspired by the work “Citizens of the City,” which is exhibited at the museum, the workshop will focus on the themes of freedom and animals. You can participate in all three days (recommended), or in two or just one. The first day will focus on illustration, the second on text, and the third on the connection between them.

What will we do in the workshop?

We will draw and write short comics (strips), do illustration exercises, and learn how to think creatively and how to tell a story through comics.
