LOVE-LOVE

A theater-dance duet drawing inspiration from the worlds of tennis and war, created in response to the idea of “total victory.” It begins with the paradox of the word “love,” which in tennis means zero but also devotion, and transforms it into a physical language of endurance, rivalry, tenderness, and care.

Two performers meet as rivals and partners simultaneously, moving between rules and breaking them, between play and survival. The court becomes a shifting field where gestures of competition echo strategies of conflict, and simple exchanges accumulate into the understanding that they need one another in order to keep playing.

Love-Love asks what remains when victory loses its meaning.

The work was created as part of the AS IS residency program, under the artistic direction of Or Marin, and recently returned from a tour throughout Germany.

What does it mean to have everything? What is everything? What does it mean to have nothing? What is nothing? And if I do not have everything, does that mean I have nothing? And if I have nothing, isn’t it enough that at least I have something?

Lior Lazarof

Lior Lazarof is a choreographer, dancer, and dance teacher, and the founder and artistic director of The People Dance Theater Company. She creates works for the stage and public spaces, and through her work explores the relationships between body, community, and space באמצעות movement research and socially engaged artistic practices.

Lior has participated in artist residencies, research programs, and artistic development platforms in Israel and abroad. Her works have been presented in Israel and internationally, including at Curtain Up Festival, Jaffa to Agripas Festival, Haifa Museum of Art, the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna, Springboard Danse Montréal, and Lucky Trimmer in Berlin.

Alongside her choreographic work, she founded “The Ensemble,” a pre-professional training program for dancers combining technical training, artistic research, and creation. She also leads dance groups and facilitates creative processes in professional and community settings.
