A performative evening of confessions and a gathering for those who have lost a friend. The event will take place at the Young Men and Women’s House, 107 Herzl Street, Tel Aviv-Yafo.
“Not Bringing This Home” is a performative evening of confessions, gathering, and collaborative creation, intended for those who have lost a friend in any way, those who carry grief with them, and anyone who feels the desire to take part. During the evening, people meet in the same room and share personal confessions—without reactions, without questions, without comforting, and without explaining. Only listening and telling. From a sequence of personal texts touching on shame, fear, guilt, and grief, a live work emerges before and with the audience. The evening was created and is hosted by Jason Danino Holt.
At a time when grief is present all around us, yet still often remains locked inside, the performance seeks to encounter the place from which grief is born: the memories, guilt, longing, silences, and unspoken words. It does not seek to comfort or resolve, but to make space. To leave people with a new sense of closeness, with words that previously had no place to come out, and with the possibility of seeing, for a moment, a person together with their pain.
This is a rare opportunity for an encounter based not on consolation or clichés, but on the possibility of allowing grief to be present, heard, and held.
