Liav Baruch Quartet
The Liav Baruch Quartet is an instrumental ensemble seeking to build a bridge between musical traditions from the Middle East and the world of contemporary jazz. At the center of its work is the oud, an instrument deeply rooted in the region’s musical culture, which encounters modern harmonic language, free improvisation, and lively group dialogue.
Liav Baruch’s work grows out of a personal and profound familiarity with Arab and Middle Eastern music, as well as a desire to continue developing it through an open dialogue with the language of contemporary jazz. The music draws inspiration from Middle Eastern maqamat, Mediterranean sounds, and diverse musical traditions, creating a personal musical space that moves between tradition and innovation.
The ensemble’s music expresses an encounter between identities, memories, and cultures, offering the audience a sensitive, profound, and colorful experience.

The performance presents original compositions written out of a connection to the musical heritage of the Middle East, alongside a deep love of jazz and improvisation. Through an ongoing musical conversation between the oud, piano, double bass, and percussion, a musical journey emerges, moving between intimate, quiet moments and sweeping, powerful passages. The performance seeks to connect past and present, tradition and contemporary creation, and invites the audience to listen to a live, open, and authentic encounter between musical worlds.
