Prof. Dani Orbach – Introduction to the World of Shadows: Espionage and Intelligence for Beginners.

In this lecture, an introduction to the world of espionage and intelligence, we will explore the various fields of intelligence work, focusing on human intelligence (espionage) and signals intelligence (wiretapping). We will learn about the intelligence cycle, become familiar with espionage techniques and tools such as dead drops and brief meetings, and examine the tricks agents used to evade surveillance during the Cold War. Among other things, we will learn about famous spies, decipher the Allies’ most important intelligence success in World War II, and understand what intelligence failures are and how they can be avoided.
