A concert of music from popular films performed by a string quintet will take place on October 6, 2026, at the Armenian Monastery in the Port of Jaffa.
You are invited to a special candlelit concert featuring incredible film music. Experience the beauty of a string quintet in the setting of one of Israel’s most beautiful monasteries. On an open terrace overlooking the sea, hundreds of candles will illuminate music that touches the heart.
You will hear the most romantic music from films including Titanic, Harry Potter, Dirty Dancing, The Lion King, Schindler’s List, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and many others. These melodies, familiar to everyone, were written by some of the greatest composers of our time—Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Yann Tiersen, and Justin Hurwitz—especially for beloved films. And it is not about the number of Oscars or other awards.
When these notes begin to play, we return to the magical world of our favorite characters and stories: the incredible deck of the Titanic; the moment Harry Potter takes his first flight on a broomstick; the first meeting with little Simba. Performed by a string quintet, this music sounds especially poignant—as if it comes alive in the flickering light of hundreds of candles. The sea, the candles, the music—everything is here to make time stand still. Beauty you want to immerse yourself in, and music that truly touches the heart.
The concert features musicians from the Rishon LeZion Orchestra (the Israel Opera Orchestra) and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Please note: The concert takes place outdoors on the grounds of an old monastery by the sea. Evenings by the sea can be chilly, so we recommend bringing a light shawl or something warm in case of cool weather.
Please also note that there is no bar or café on the monastery grounds.
The monastery entrance is from the Jaffa promenade, not through the Old City.
See you among the candles, music, and evening sea ✨
