A play about the effects of conversion therapy, at the Goren Goldstein Community Country Club in Tel Aviv. The plot follows Jude in his meetings with a priest.
The play examines the effects of conversion-therapy processes on young people’s mental health and the consequences of these treatments. It is the story of Jude, a religious young man who does everything to please his father and be loved by God. While undergoing treatment, he imagines his beloved Joshua, a scout leader whose name alludes to Jesus, and dreams of building a home and family with him.
The play takes place in a church-owned location in Britain and depicts a series of meetings between a young student named Jude (the name alludes to Judas Iscariot) and a priest. The purpose of the meetings is to convert Jude’s sexual orientation. This is because Jude was caught by his father while watching pornographic material, and his father sent him to “therapy” through the church.
