More than three decades after Eric Clapton’s 1992 Unplugged appearance—one of the best-selling live recordings of all time and a Grammy Award winner—this music continues to sound more relevant than ever.
The album marked a turning point in Clapton’s career, featuring acoustic arrangements of familiar songs, mostly blues numbers, alongside more personal material. The show returns to the intimate, precise format of that unforgettable performance, emphasizing a rich acoustic sound and a direct, simple approach faithful to the original.
The set includes “Tears in Heaven,” written following the death of his son; a newly reworked acoustic version of “Layla,” perhaps the song most closely associated with Clapton; and blues classics such as “Before You Accuse Me” and “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down and Out.”
