Inner Thoughts — World Premiere

After nearly two decades in New York, a global musical career, and collaborations with some of the most influential voices in contemporary jazz,

pianist and composer Eden Ladin returns to Tel Aviv for a one-time performance of his new solo project.

His solo albums, Yequm (2017) and Mirage (2022), received widespread acclaim from the press, musicians, and listeners.

In this performance, Eden enters a new chapter in his creative work with a personal and profound collection of original compositions for solo piano.

Since arriving on the New York jazz scene in 2008, Eden has developed a unique musical language characterized by lyrical expression, harmonic depth, and a constant search for honest musical communication.

Over the years, he has collaborated and recorded with leading international artists, including Terence Blanchard, Avishai Cohen, Ravi Coltrane, Mark Guiliana,

Donny McCaslin, Ben Wendel, Gilad Hekselman, Ari Hoenig, Omer Avital, and many others.

Eden grew up in Tel Aviv as the son of acclaimed Israeli drummer Gil Ladin. He began his musical journey as a drummer at the age of four, before discovering the piano at eight.

After receiving scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation and The New School for Contemporary Music and Jazz, he moved to New York,

where he studied with some of the greatest mentors in the jazz world, including George Cables, Reggie Workman, Billy Harper, Ben Monder, and Lee Konitz.

Konitz’s advice—“Play what you sing; don’t sing what you play”—continues to serve as a guiding principle in his artistic approach.

This special performance marks the world premiere of the new body of work.

The music, most of which consists of pre-composed micro-compositions filled with harmonies and colors, some of which also contain spaces for improvisation and exploration,

explores the delicate tension between structure and spontaneity, presenting Eden’s most personal, exposed, and intimate musical statement to date.

Some of the compositions in the project have never been performed before an audience and will be heard for the first time in this performance.

The performance is a personal journey into the world of composition, sound, and his musical values—an honesty of beauty and a deep love of harmony and the unknown.
