Children's theatrical production based on Greek mythology and Homer's epic about King Odysseus's long journey home. Parallel to his adventures, a boy waits for his father, and audiences empathize with important themes of waiting, time, and family bonds. The performance combines ancient myth with profound philosophical elements and is recommended for children from five years old.
Synopsis
Dad Udi is traveling for ten days and leaves his son Tal a magical book. "If you read this book, time will pass faster," he tells him. The book tells the story of King Odysseus who went to war and won. Now he is rushing to return home to his wife and son, but his journey back grows longer and becomes an Odyssey—a long and arduous voyage. The mythological hero Odysseus and his brave companions must face a giant Cyclops and seductive Sirens, solve riddles and make choices, cross the kingdom of the dead and ponder eternal life. Together with them, the waiting child at home and the children in the audience do the same. "When will Dad come back?" Tal asks his mother, and she explains to him that "sometimes waiting is also an Odyssey."
Homer's Odyssey is not just an ancient Greek myth—it is also the basis for all the journey stories we know, and it contains a simple family story that touches us all. A father trying to get home and a mother and son waiting with all their might.
