Conversation at the Exhibition | Liam Chambon Hosts Alona Friedberg and Shahar Yahalom

As part of the exhibition “Andy, Matthew and Ruthi,” Liam Chambon will host artists Alona Friedberg and Shahar Yahalom for a conversation about his work Boys Will Be Boys. Friedberg and Yahalom were Chambon’s teachers at the Midrasha School of Art, and Friedberg accompanied the process of creating this work. During the meeting, they will discuss the relationship between video and material still images, and the presence of blurring and masking at the moment of a destructive act, so that consciousness does not permit its understanding or the assumption of responsibility for it.

Liam Chambon is an artist working in sculpture, drawing, textiles, and installation. Chambon graduated with honors from the Department of Art and Teaching at the Midrasha School of Art, Beit Berl Academic College. His works have been presented in a two-person exhibition at the Artists’ Studios in Tel Aviv, a solo exhibition at the Artists’ House in Jerusalem, and various group exhibitions, including at Dvir Gallery, Noga Gallery, Uri Lifshitz House, and Ta’ar Gallery.

Alona Friedberg is an artist and lecturer in art. She works in the fields of video, sound, and new media. Her works address the isolation, dismantling, and reassembly of cultural images from contemporary and historical, sociopolitical, and popular culture contexts. They examine the relationship between the private and the local in relation to the global, the media, and the virtual. Her works have been exhibited in art venues in Israel and abroad, including the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, the Haifa Museum of Art, the Museum of Jewish Art in New York, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Pusan, South Korea, among others. She lectures in art at the Faculty of Arts of the Midrasha and in the Department of Art at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.

Shahar Yahalom is an artist who works on the boundary between sculpture and drawing. She holds an MFA from Columbia University, New York, and a B.Ed. in Art from the Midrasha School of Art, Beit Berl College. She has presented numerous solo exhibitions, including at the Bat Yam Museum of Art, Culturescapes in Basel, Switzerland, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Noga Gallery of Contemporary Art, and the Kibbutz Kabri Cooperative Gallery. Yahalom has also presented her work in numerous group exhibitions at exhibition venues in Israel and abroad. She lectures in sculpture at the Midrasha School of Art, Beit Berl College, and at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design.
