In 1964, an album that changed the history of jazz was released: Getz/Gilberto. In a small New York studio, three artists who spoke different languages but shared a common musical language came together: American saxophonist Stan Getz, Brazilian guitarist and singer João Gilberto, and composer Antônio Carlos Jobim.

From this fusion, bossa nova was born—a style that combined the cool elegance of jazz with the softness, sunshine, and melancholy of Brazil. Getz/Gilberto is considered one of those rare masterpiece albums: a work that manages to cross borders, redefine a genre, and remain fresh and relevant even sixty years later.

The album’s songs, including “The Girl from Ipanema,” “Desafinado,” “Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars),” and “Só Danço Samba,” became timeless classics and the soundtrack of an entire generation.
