The filmmaker returns to her hometown of Dimona to document testimonies from cancer patients participating in a class-action lawsuit against the nuclear reactor. Abוקasis documents her introspective journey through her home, family, and the city where she grew up, focusing on her encounters with her father, who retired after 40 years of working at the reactor.
The film Av. Bayit presents a personal and critical perspective on the code of silence between the city’s residents and the nearby reactor, and on what remains unsaid—“something” we cannot grasp, will never be able to understand, and cannot document. Ultimately, the film offers an intimate portrait of an unresolved obsession with capturing and holding on to fear, confronting the power of silencing, and speaking from within the silence.
