Aviv's Choir - Open Rehearsal

Welcome to Aviv’s Choir:

On September 24 at 7:00 p.m., we will meet at HaMatate Studio for an open rehearsal of “Aviv’s Choir.” The open rehearsal will launch the group’s upcoming session, and afterward it will be possible to register for the full program.

Registration for the open rehearsal is free, but please note: space is limited.

So, who is Aviv?

Aviv Polins is a creator, musician, and theater artist. She is a graduate of the School of Visual Theatre and studied composition in the Multidisciplinary Department at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.

A few months ago, Aviv decided she wanted to open a musical space for people who love to sing, so she did the obvious thing—and posted on Facebook. Within a few days, she already had a long list of experienced singers, as well as people who had never sung in a choir, asking to join the group. And now, after a highly successful pilot, Aviv’s Choir is coming to Herzl 107, and you are invited to take part in an open rehearsal :)

The choir is a space for people who love to sing and have always dreamed of singing in a choir, but never had the opportunity. Even if you have never sung in a choir, do not know how to read music, and are not sure that you “know how to sing” at all—but your heart melts at the thought of singing in a choir, you belong with us.

The choir’s full program will run for three months, during which the group will meet once a week.

Alongside vocal work, breathing, listening, harmony, and singing in several parts, we will incorporate tools and approaches from various disciplines: from the world of classical music to contemporary art, performance, improvisation, and work on stage presence.

Together, we will explore what can be done with voice, body, and group, and how singing together can also become a creative and stage-based act. The choir itself will be built together with the participants: from the people who come, their voices, musical tastes, curiosity, and the ideas that emerge along the way.

No previous experience is required—only the desire to sing, experiment, and be part of a group creating something of its own.
