A special tour of three exhibitions focusing on consumer goods and the imagery that accompanies them. The tour follows the life cycle within a culture of abundance and examines how our consumption habits have changed. The encounter takes place alongside selected artworks from all three exhibitions simultaneously.
Tour of the exhibitions: Tom and Salmen: In General, Ilana Dotan: Shelf Life, Numa Bar: On the Other Hand
A special tour where we will move between three exhibitions dealing with consumer products and the images that accompany them. In his exhibition On the Other Hand, Numa Bar reveals the power inherent in the image of a consumer product, through designing the way we look at brands and the world around us. In the exhibition Tom and Salmen: In General, we see how American consumer culture and brands were presented by Pop artists, and how any image can become commodified. Ilana Dotan collects traces of consumption through everyday packaging and objects; in her exhibition Shelf Life, she presents to the viewer what remains after consumption: the packaging, the residue, the memory.
Through encounters with selected works from the three exhibitions, we will examine the life cycle in consumer culture and attempt to understand how our consumption habits have changed, and primarily what they can teach us about society, culture, and daily life.
