The Most Romantic Jazz by Candlelight in an Ancient Armenian Monastery

You are invited to a special evening featuring the most romantic jazz hits of all time. Hundreds of candles, a sea view from the roof of a monastery, and unforgettable songs await you: Fly Me to the Moon, Just the Two of Us, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Ain’t No Sunshine, and many more.

On the roof of an ancient monastery in Jaffa, where the sky seems closer and time appears to slow down, the most romantic jazz will fill the air—the kind played when people declare their love, reminisce, and simply hold hands.

The hits we know and love will be performed live by a jazz band and vocalist Tommer Hesseg, known for his deep, moving voice.

The program features songs that have become symbols of love over the years, from the velvety tenderness of Unforgettable by Nat King Cole to the lyrical You Are the Sunshine of My Life by Stevie Wonder.

We will sing Fly Me to the Moon, and the music will be carried by the wind drifting between the ancient walls, taking it toward the clouds along the moonlit path. At dusk, Ain’t No Sunshine will be performed as the sun slowly disappears beyond the horizon, casting its final ray over the Mediterranean Sea. You will also hear legendary love songs in jazz arrangements, including Shape of My Heart by Sting and Your Song by Elton John.

After all, feelings have no boundaries or genres—only an evening, stars, the flickering of candles, and the distant sound of waves.

Instead of dusty halls, there will be a city glowing with lights, ancient walls, and the endless sea. This is not merely a concert, but an evening in which music becomes part of the atmosphere—and perhaps the most beautiful declaration of love.

Performers

Vocals: Tommer Hesseg
An Israeli singer, conductor, and composer. He holds a doctorate in music, is a graduate of the Beit-Zvi School of Performing Arts, and has performed as a soloist and conductor with leading ensembles in Israel.

Jazz Band: Musicians from the Sum Funny Orchestra, an ensemble that brings together musicians with academic backgrounds and experience performing with leading theaters and philharmonic orchestras. Today, they are members of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra and active participants in Israel’s contemporary music scene.

Please note: The concert takes place outdoors on the grounds of an ancient monastery by the sea. Evenings by the sea can be cool, so we recommend bringing a light shawl or something warm in case of chilly weather.

Please also note that there is no bar or café on the monastery grounds.

The monastery entrance is accessed from the Jaffa promenade, not through the Old City.
