Romantic Jazz Evening at the Jaffa Monastery Rooftop

Join us for a special evening featuring the most romantic jazz hits of all time. You will be surrounded by hundreds of candles, with a view of the sea from the monastery roof and unforgettable songs: Fly Me to the Moon, Just the Two of Us, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Ain’t No Sunshine, and many more.

On the roof of an ancient monastery in Jaffa, where the sky seems closer and time appears to slow down, the most romantic jazz will play—the kind under which people confess their love, reminisce, or simply hold hands.

The hits we know and love will be performed live by a jazz band and vocalist Tommer Hesseg, who possesses a deep, touching voice.

The program includes songs that have become symbols of love across different eras: from the velvet tenderness of Nat King Cole’s Unforgettable to Stevie Wonder’s lyrical You Are the Sunshine of My Life.

We will sing Fly Me to the Moon, and the music will be carried by the wind wandering among the ancient walls, taking it towards the clouds along the moonlit path. In the evening twilight, Ain’t No Sunshine will sound as the sun slowly sets behind the horizon, casting its last ray on the Mediterranean Sea.

You will also hear legendary love songs in jazz arrangements, such as Sting’s Shape of My Heart and Elton John’s Your Song. After all, feelings have no boundaries or genres—only an evening, stars, the flickering of candles, and the distant sound of waves.

Instead of dusty halls, there is a city glowing with lights, ancient walls, and an endless sea. This is not just a concert, but an evening where music becomes part of the atmosphere—and perhaps the most beautiful confession of love.

Performers

• Vocals: Tommer Hesseg. An Israeli singer, conductor, and composer. He holds a doctoral degree in music, is a graduate of the Beit-Zvi School of Performing Arts, and serves as a soloist and conductor for leading national ensembles.
• Jazz Band: Musicians from the Sum Funny Orchestra, a collective uniting musicians with academic experience from leading theaters and philharmonics. Today, they are artists of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra and active participants in Israel's contemporary music scene.

• Venue: The concert takes place in an open-air area within the territory of an ancient seaside monastery.
• Weather: It may be cool by the sea in the evening; we recommend bringing a light wrap or something warm in case of cooler weather.
• Facilities: Please note that there is no bar or café on the monastery premises.
• Access: Entry to the monastery is via the Jaffa Promenade (Yaffo Waterfront), not through the Old City.
