A lecture on the psychology of kink will take place on 16/09/2026 at 19:00 at Bar Giora, 30 Ibn Gabirol Street, Tel Aviv-Yafo. Dr. Itamar Cohen will examine fantasies, personality, and healing.
In recent years, the fields of sexology and psychology have begun to understand that properly expressing our most secret sexual fantasies holds extraordinary potential for psychological healing. In other words, what once required “treatment” is now considered capable of being “therapeutic” in its own right.
In this lecture, we will ask and answer: Is the world of kink a unique way of coping with ancient psychological pain? What lies behind our sexual deviations? Is it connected to the way we were raised? Is it possible to develop a love of “kink”? And what does it say about our personality?
This is an opportunity to finally understand what “kink” actually is; the personality mechanisms behind our most hidden attractions; how kink can be used for growth and recovery from psychological pain; and even to identify the type of kink that particularly speaks to us—and, of course, try to understand why.
