The gripping and touching story of Luna, known to everyone as “The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem,” a member of a Sephardic Jerusalem family with generations of roots in the city. Luna falls in love with David, an Ashkenazi man who has returned from military service in Europe as part of the Jewish Brigade. She marries him despite her mother’s and grandmother’s opposition, and comes to realize that the truths of life are far removed from youthful fantasies—and that love has many surprising faces.
