In this lecture, Efrat Harel-Haiman will explore the myths surrounding psychopathy and present its various aspects from different psychological perspectives. The lecture will address questions about the motives and characteristics of psychopaths and provide a fresh perspective on existing ideas in the field.
What lies behind human evil? What are the myths about psychopathy, and why are they incorrect? Is there a "little psychopath" in all of us? How can psychopaths be identified, and are they capable of love?
We all wish to be better people, we educate our children to be “good,” yet we are horrified by terrible crimes happening around us every day, clapping our hands and asking “why?!”
In this fascinating lecture, we will understand what traits make up human evil, why cruelty exists, what psychopathy is, when it was first discovered, the difference between psychopathy and sociopathy, and why the disorder develops. Are all criminals psychopathic? What do they feel? What drives them? Why haven’t they become extinct?
In this session, Efrat Harel-Heiman will debunk myths about psychopathy and discuss the phenomenon through aspects of evolutionary, biological, and psychodynamic psychology.
