A nostalgic and humorous show dedicated to the military bands and the songs that became Israeli classics. The show will feature songs such as “Shalva,” “The Kingdom of Hermon,” “Last Rain,” and “Carnival in Nahal.” Featuring Miri Aloni, Avi Toledano, Adar Gold, Habima Theatre actors, and hosted by Tal Mosseri.
How did army bands come to create some of the biggest, funniest, and most moving hits in Israeli music? Young soldiers in uniform, performing on makeshift stages, sang about love, friendship, longing, landscapes, and war—and the songs intended to entertain the troops became classics that endured long after the bands themselves had left the stage.
The show revisits the unique phenomenon of the army bands, the creators, performers, and stories behind the songs, and the moment when military service unexpectedly became one of the most important incubators of Israeli culture. A nostalgic, captivating, and humorous performance featuring songs that moved from the bases to the radio, stages, and all of our hearts.
Songs performed in the show include: “Shalva,” “The Kingdom of Hermon,” “Ya Mashtalti,” “Last Rain,” “Winter ’73,” “Hora of the Settlement,” “He Who Dreamed,” “Carnival at Nahal,” and more.
Featuring Miri Aloni, Avi Toledano, Adar Gold, and Habima Theatre ensemble members Ilay Elmani, Oded Sandtsch, Ronit Appel, and Neil Mashan. Hosted by Tal Mosseri.
