A musical performance by Sharel Hacohen, on September 2 at TARB, Tel Aviv. The work combines Turkish and Persian music, jazz, electronic music, and world music.
Israel Hacohen comes to Tarb with his new show, “Mirrors.”
The show presents Hacohen’s musical creation, describing a personal journey of identity-seeking. Through sound, Hacohen explores existential and philosophical questions about humanity, faith, society, and God.
Among the prominent musical influences are Turkish and Persian music, unique jazz rhythms, electronic sound, and world music—at the center of the stage stands the ancient and hypnotic sound of the qanun.
The result is a unique, fascinating, and turbulent blend in which tradition and modernity meet side by side.
