"When the lonely island imprisons me" – Singers and storytellers about the illegal immigrants in the detention camps in Cyprus

A special evening of music and oral storytelling is dedicated to the fate of refugee sailors who were detained in camps in Cyprus before arriving in Israel. Marking the 80th anniversary of the opening of these camps, the event accompanies the exhibition at Palmach House. Prominent performers and children of distinguished figures will take the stage to share personal memories.
Evening “Singers and Storytellers” – a special event that will bring to life the stories of the Cyprus refugees at their last stop before Israel. The evening is part of the commemoration of 80 years since the opening of the detention camps in Cyprus and continues the exhibition “Even Cyprus Is the Land of Israel” – the story of the Cyprus refugees, on display at Beit HaPalmach throughout the summer.
You are invited to arrive early to view the exhibition or to register for a guided tour of the exhibition during the summer at 03‑5459800 (phone or WhatsApp).
On stage will sing and tell our wonderful friends Mika Einav and Noam Gilor, together with the children of prominent figures who will give the personal voice of the story’s heroes.
