Frames from Micha Bar-Am’s Camera is a film about photography and a war photographer. But no less than that, it is a film about the scars that history leaves—not only on its victims, but also on those who document it.
Micha Bar-Am, one of Israel’s leading photographers, devoted fifty years to documenting the Israeli project. Now, at over ninety years old, he looks back on his life and the images he collected, trying to understand what it was all for and whom it was for.
For a year and a half, Bar-Am gave director Ran Tal (Children of the Sun, Garden of Eden, The Museum) free access to his vast photographic archive, located in the basement of his home. Tal selected 1,341 frames and used them to assemble the film.
