On Writing in Wartime with Author Zeruya Shalev
In her lecture, Zeruya Shalev will discuss the challenges and difficulties of literary writing during wartime, when reality surpasses all imagination. Do the muses really fall silent, and why? What is a writer’s role in times like these? Is it permissible to write about everyday subjects? Is it permissible to write about love?
Zeruya Shalev is a renowned Israeli author, poet, and book editor. She has published novels, poetry, and children’s books. Her books have been translated into many languages and have received major international awards, including the Swiss Jan Michalski Prize and the French Prix Femina.
