Screening of the film “I Am New” and a conversation with Lior and Galit Miller at HOT CINEMA Petah Tikva. Gathering at 18:30, the film at 19:00, and the conversation at 20:00.
Lior Miller, a music producer and former actor and model, and his wife Galit Miller documented their son Neo’s rehabilitation process for years. They gave the sensitive footage to Yael Abecassis, the film’s director and Lior’s ex-wife, who tells the story of their family’s rehabilitation and recovery.
Neo was three and a half when he was involved in a serious car accident that left him with severe brainstem damage. For five days, he hovered between life and death, and when he awoke, he had to relearn how to breathe, speak, walk, and eat.
Neo’s father, Lior, decides to pick up a camera and document their new life as a family undergoing rehabilitation. Hundreds of hours of intimate footage reveal Neo and his parents’ determined daily struggle as he reconstructs his body and language, alongside his grandmother, who insists that compassion is the key to recovery.
