EFIM ALEKSANDROV “Songs of the Jewish Shtetl”

This year marks the 25th anniversary of Efim Aleksandrov’s unique project, “Songs of the Jewish Shtetl”! The international press has unanimously recognized it as a one-of-a-kind musical project in Yiddish, with no equivalent anywhere in the world. Its creator, Efim Aleksandrov, has received numerous domestic and international awards and titles.

A beloved audience favorite, Efim Aleksandrov is a composer, performer, singer, and guardian of the Yiddish song tradition. His previous performances in Israel were a tremendous success in 2022. And now, at last, the author, artistic director, and director of “Songs of the Jewish Shtetl,” Efim Aleksandrov, is returning to Israel with a major anniversary tour.

Over the project’s 25-year history, Efim Aleksandrov has presented Israeli audiences with numerous themed musical programs. The anniversary tour will feature songs from the artist’s new albums, as well as the very best and most beloved pieces that audiences have cherished over these 25 years.

“Songs of the Jewish Shtetl” is music that preserves the breath of a bygone era of Jewish shtetls and the warmth of the souls of our ancestors, who managed to carry the light of the Shabbat candles—the light of the Jewish soul—through terrible ordeals.

Mame-loshn, “the mother tongue”—that is what Jews called Yiddish. These songs are like an open door to the past, where the aroma of Sabbath baking fills the air, Yiddish lullabies are heard, every gesture expresses care, and every word is a blessing.
