A drama performance by Savyon Liebrecht at the Beit Golda Theater, 3 Aryeh Braun Street, Petah Tikva. Duration: one and a half hours without an intermission.
Beautiful, clever, and talented Ruchele finally finds a groom in her late thirties!
Shloyme, her father (Natan Detner), a widowed Holocaust survivor, is beside himself with excitement. However, following the meeting with the groom, who appears perfect, painful memories from the period in Poland are revealed.
When the memory of a repressed event resurfaces, Shloyme decides to call off the wedding. The painful relationship between Ruchele and Leah, her divorced sister, is then exposed, along with the remarkable story of the friendship between Ruchele’s father and Stashek, who shared a great love for Ruchele’s mother.
A moving drama written by Savyon Liebrecht, based on the story “Ruchele’s Perfect Groom,” from her book A Love Story Needs an Ending.
Savyon Liebrecht won Playwright of the Year for I Speak Chinese to You and Apples from the Desert. The play The Banality of Love won the Israeli Play of the Year Award.
