In a neighborhood of Italian immigrants near the harbor in Brooklyn, Eddie Carbone (Natan Detner) and his wife raise her sister’s daughter. Two cousins who entered America illegally arrive at the home. This is the story of a devoted and loving “father” who, in a desperate attempt to keep the “daughter” for himself, was willing to give up his family, self-respect, and life. It is a story of destructive passion, betrayal, revenge, and primal, natural justice versus the judicial systems of a civilized society. The play is considered Arthur Miller’s finest.
