The Maestro, Galit Giat – The World Between Shoshana Damari and Umm Kulthum
For Israelis, no one in the history of Israel has been more synonymous with "the voice of the state" than Shoshana Damari—the pioneering first voice of the Yemenite style, recipient of the Israel Prize for Hebrew song, and an artist known as the "Queen of Hebrew Song." Her artistry represents the most important cultural ambassador of this nation on a historical scale.
Her voice and songs were the childhood sounds of Gil Shohat, the most prominent musical memory from Aba's House (Beit Aba), which was founded by someone born in Baghdad, Iraq.
Now, the Maestro presents her most beautiful and popular songs in a concert format with new arrangements.
Meanwhile, singer and actress Galit Giat has conquered every possible stage with the play about the life and work of Umm Kulthum at Yaffo Theatre. Currently, she is rehearsing and starring in the lead role in a musical about the life of Yafya Yarkoni.
In this current production, Maestro Gil Shohat returns to collaborate with singer Galit Giat for a particularly royal concert performance featuring these two legendary singers.
