Summary

A moderate 12 km hike through Mount Meron Nature Reserve on 28 October 2026, starting with bus pickups from Raanana, Netanya and Zichron.

Description(original)

Join us for a beautiful hike through the Mount Meron Nature Reserve, one of the greenest and most scenic areas of the Upper Galilee.

We begin by descending through Nahal Moran, following a lovely trail through rich Mediterranean woodland, before continuing through Nahal Neria and climbing towards the Mount Meron Field School. These two beautiful valleys are especially green after the first rains, with dense natural vegetation and, hopefully, colourful wildflowers.

From here we continue upwards towards Mount Meron, through impressive woodland and vegetation, with wonderful views opening across the mountains and valleys of northern Israel.

Our route takes us to approximately 1,200 metres above sea level, close to the summit of Mount Meron one of Israel’s highest points.

Approximately 12 km

We look forward to hiking together!

Please Note: ESRA hikes are challenging nature hikes – not leisurely walks, nor rambles.

They are only for experienced hikers who are in good health and physical condition, with regular full-day hiking experience and ability to complete the distance and degree of difficulty of the hike. All participants must come properly equipped with sturdy hiking boots, a hat, sunscreen, and a minimum of 3 litres of drinking water.

Our hikes include rough, uneven and rocky terrain, with steep ascents and descents, loose rocks and unpaved paths. Participants should be sure-footed and capable of safely negotiating these conditions. The hikes are NOT suitable for those with mobility issues or balance difficulties. Participants are responsible for ensuring that they are medically fit to take part in the hike and should seek medical advice if in any doubt.

Participation in all ESRA Hike Club activities is entirely at the participant’s own risk. ESRA and the hike leaders accept no responsibility for any injury, accident, illness, loss or damage to personal property arising from participation in the hike.

We reserve the right to refuse participation to any person who, in our judgement, is not properly equipped, does not appear physically capable of safely completing the hike, or whose participation may present a risk to themselves or to others.
