A musical performance by Ariel Horowitz and “The Shamer Sisters 24” on December 30, 2026, at the Nahariya Culture Hall. Songs and stories about Naomi Shemer.
Musician and creator Ariel Horowitz takes us on a moving musical journey filled with love, longing, and optimism through the creative world of his mother, composer and poet Naomi Shemer.
The performance is a musical dialogue between Horowitz, Naomi Shemer’s son, and a select group of young female singer-songwriters from Israel who together make up “The Shemer Sisters 24.”
With his characteristic humor, Horowitz offers a glimpse into the personal stories behind his mother’s songs. Together with the singer-songwriters, he pays tribute to Naomi Shemer, who was the first female singer-songwriter in Israel, through contemporary interpretations of her songs—without compromising the audience’s opportunity to join in singing the great anthems she left us.
The performance When Mom Came Here allows us to fondly revisit Shemer the creator while getting to know Naomi the private individual.
The name “The Shemer Sisters 24” echoes the pioneering women’s ensemble Shemer founded in the mid-1960s.
Or Adi, Daniel Rubin / Hadar Zacharia, Keren Tannenbaum / Maayan Linik, Nili Fink, and Einat Harel are among the most prominent and original young singer-songwriters and musicians of their generation. Together—as the house band of the performance—they bring to the stage the revolutionary and fresh feminine spirit Naomi Shemer introduced to Israeli music as a whole in her time.
The audience is invited to sing, laugh, reminisce, and be moved.
